Brooklyn to Newark, Two Ways Across
Newark is the longest airport run from Brooklyn because it crosses into New Jersey. There are two ways: over the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and across Staten Island to the Goethals Bridge, or through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and the Holland Tunnel.
You won't share the car: it's a private ride with a TLC-licensed chauffeur from our network, and you'll have their name and number before pickup.
What to Expect on This Route
Two routes, two states, and a few tolls to plan around.
The Usual Route
From Bay Ridge, Park Slope and south Brooklyn, usually the Verrazzano, the Staten Island Expressway and the Goethals Bridge. From Downtown Brooklyn and Williamsburg, often the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and the Holland Tunnel.
Typical Drive Time
About 45 to 75 minutes outside rush hour. Weekday afternoons and summer Fridays can push it toward 90 minutes.
When to Book Your Pickup
Airlines ask you to arrive 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. From Brooklyn, most riders book a pickup about 3½ hours before a domestic departure and 4½ hours before an international one.
Free Waiting Time
Customs at Newark can be slow on busy evenings. Waiting is free for 60 minutes after an international landing and 45 after a domestic one, counted from the actual landing.
Meeting Your Chauffeur
Before your ride we send the chauffeur's name and number. Call once you're through baggage claim. A name-sign meet & greet inside the terminal is $30.
Terminals A, B and C
Terminal A opened new in 2023, Terminal B is being renovated, and Terminal C is mostly United. Your flight number tells us which one.
